According to the Nigeria Police Force’s spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, any officer who persists on looking through a citizen’s phone is not acting in their official capacity but rather as a scavenger. In a tweet posted to his account, Adejobi stated that until a phone is an exhibit for an inquiry, no officer has the authority to request that a citizen open his phone for inspection.
